Excited for Dragon Con as much as we are? A big part of Dragon Con is the amazing, unique, and skillfully crafted cosplay. He is a glimpse into what we are doing this year and have done in the past. For more information about Dragon Con visit Dragoncon.org
Again this year for Dragon Con I will be cosplaying as Robert Muldoon from Jurassic Park. Last year I went as Muldoon but combined elements of the video game Borderlands. This year I purchased a superior fitting hat then previous one. Also purchased a SPAS-12 shotgun seen in the sequence where Muldoon is hunting the escaped raptors. – Nate (8/01)
In addition to Jurassic Park cosplay I will be dressing as the 11th Doctor from Doctor Who and possible as a House Ravenclaw student from Harry Potter films and books. – Nate (8/22)
Geek Triumvirate will be making its annual pilgrimage to DragonCon in Atlanta again this year. To countdown the days we will be sharing images, videos, and helpful tips from our previous visits.
Cosplay has deep roots at Dragon Con. Cosplayers often use the con to showcase some of their most unique and obscure costumes. The Star Wars costuming group the 501st Legion origins are from past Dragon Con’s. And due to Dragon Con many high profile cosplayers residue in Atlanta due to the strong community.

Finished ID badge for cosplay costume. The lady ask Staples ask what the printing was for and I for some reason panic and told here it was for a costume for my son. Been finishing up some painting of guns and grenades and will be sealing them with lacquer today. We have all been spending a great deal of time going over the schedule trying to plan every moment during Dragon Con. The biggest thing we learn is we won’t be together all the time is there is just way to much to see. I also reserved a photo-op with Ernie Hudson from Ghostbusters for Friday. Childhood dream unlocked!

Amanda’s Progress:
I have been slowly putting together my steampunk Dorothy (from Wizard of Oz). My first project was the skirt.
Some of us needed a break before any of the real work began. Sweet Sweet is lazy.
To let Sweet Sweet sleep I started working on my bracers/gauntlets (which ever you prefer)
Between the banging and smashing to put the holes in the leather Sweet Sweet finally woke up so I got to finish the skirt. It still has some work with the bunching the back but it turn out nicely without it.
Next it was on to the Emerald City. I ordered long glass rods broke the down into smaller pieces and sanded the rough edges off.
Additional pics of cosplay accessories and girlfriend Theresa working on her Borderlands weapons to go along with her Alice in Wonderland/Borderlands mashup.

Purchased some Plasti Dip Blaze to enhances the Maliwan Nerf gun. Also purchased a vest for Muldoon outfit. Another big purchased today was some Green Lantern power rings from local comic shop The Comics Club. We are going to use them promote our blog and their business at DragonCon. As you can see from picture below Orange Lantern Larfleeze would love to have these all to himself. Yesterday the swag Andrew and Amanda got from Heroes Con arrived so I am now able to include a Jurassic Park patch on my khaki shirt.

Last night the Triumvirate did a Google hangout to finalize some of our travel plans for DC. After some issues in the past with hotels we have decided to switch to something nicer then what was previously booked. The nice part now is we will not be paying for parking, have kitchen in our room, and get to experience Atlanta public transit. We all decided there will be way too much to see and most likely will splinter the group apart to see it all. Amanda has already starting getting a reservation at restaurants so we can try and enjoy the local cuisine. Amanda is hard at work on her steam-punk Dorothy (Wizard of Oz) outfit and should have pictures soon.

Have most of the pieces for my DragonCon cosplay. Hat, shirt and socks for Jurassic Park outfit. I just now need to work on attaching JP patch and some other details. Almost done with Maliwan gun and going to start a Borderlands grenade to go along with the mash-up. The triumvirate is really excited now for DC as they have started releasing tentative schedules this week. I don’t think we will be getting much sleep.

Nate – Working on Maliwan painted Nerf gun for my cosplay. I will be going as a mashup of Robert Muldoon from Jurassic Park but with guns and reference to Borderlands 2. Think if before being game keeper at Jurassic Park, Robert Muldoon had been a hunting creatures on Pandora. My favorite gun manufacturer from Borderlands 2 is Maliwan so i will be using them heavily in my cosplay.
