Wil Wheaton and Felicia Day from Geek and Sundry announcing 2014 International Tabletop Day. It will be April 5th, 2014. Go to TableTopDay website to register or find an event near you. We plan to host our own tabletop event. Play more games!
Yesterday was Wil Wheaton’s and Felicia Day’s International Tabletop Day to celebrate board games. On twitter and live YouTube it was clear the day was a great success for game and comics shops all over the nation. I visited my local comic shop The Comics Club who was holding a tabletop event. Besides having a sale on games they also had games available to demo outside on their patio. To sample in the festivities I played Dix It with some fellow customers.
Below is the Tabletop video of Dix It. It was surprisingly fun once player understood the strategy to using vague but not too vague phrases when they were the active player. To see more of The Comics Club Tabletop Day visit here.
This weekend is a perfect storm of geekdom. Season premieres of Game of Thrones, Doctor Who and season finale of The Walking Dead. G.I. Joe: Retaliation opens in theaters. Saturday, March 30 is International Tabletop Day created by Wil Wheaton and Felicia Day. Plus Bioshock: Infinite just came out and I plan to purchase it this weekend.
- Absolutely no nudity on Game of Thrones. No one wants to see naked people on HBO
- Someone to show up at a International Tabletop Day event with wood, tools, and stains ready to make a tabletop
- For Doctor Who to reveal the biggest secret of all, what the Tardis bathroom looks like
- G.I. Joe:Retaliation main villain to be Grumpy Cat. I bet he could command COBRA with more hate then Cobra Commander
- I am buying Bioshock: Infinite this weekend. I hope the prologue is on a infinite loop and their is no actually gameplay
- Season finale of The Walking Dead to feature no zombies
- Game of Thrones switch focus away from battling for the crown of Westeros and more on dealers of antique throne furniture
- Rick and The Governor to settle things on TWD with a slap fight then a pistol duel
- Hatch a evil plan against Merpa the Honest Octopus
- Do all of these things to avoid the sunny Florida weather

Felicia Day recently announced International Tabletop Day for March 30th, 2013. Because of the popularity of her YouTube channel Geek and Sundry show Tabletop hosted by Wil Wheaton they have decided to bring board games back to the forefront of community entertainment. They will be collaborating with local gaming and comic book shops to host events. They are also encouraging anyone to create a event such as in a coffee shop or at their house. All three members of Geek Triumvirate love watching Tabletop and from it when out and purchase games we never knew existed. We are looking forward to playing some Munchkin together when we all met up at MegaCon. Wil Wheaton will be in attendance at MegaCon so we hope to get to met with him and talk about this exciting celebration of table gaming. Look for upcoming posts leading up to Megacon 2013

The January update hit a few days ago, and among the things it brought was a one time, story-driven, living story. This event will undoubtedly change the landscape of the world in one form or another.
The story takes place in Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau, as you have to help refugees from the Far Shiverpeaks escape a calamity (some are saying the ground is shaking and the sky is falling). The refugees are heading to Hoelbrak and the Black Citadel. In both the Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau, there will be heralds that will tell you somewhat about what is going down (not so much at this point, they are kind of bland, hopefully ANet fixes this, since right now if you don’t know what to do or where to look, you are kind of like a chicken with its head cut off).
There will be stars on your maps when you are in those two zones (and the two cities) that pinpoint the heralds. In the zones, if you get there at the right time, an event will activate, with a simple quest to do in order to help the refugees. While in the zones, if you don’t make it in time, you will find the refugee’s dead. Loot them and you will grab a memento. Take that memento to one of the stars on your map, and it will go towards your “Volunteer” title that you can get during this story. Also, in your travels of the zone, you will come across wounded refugee’s. Healing them will sometimes trigger an ambush, but once you take care of the ambush and finish healing the refugee’s, that will also go towards your title.
So hurry there now, and you can either help the refugees, or you can just stand by and scoff at them, but remember what Wil Wheaton says, “Don’t be a dick!”
